Privacy Policy

FX Reels ("FX Reels", "we", "us") is a video trading journal and trading education platform operated by Uungu Technologies (Pty) Ltd (registration 2019/048261/07), a company registered in South Africa. This policy explains what personal information we collect, why we collect it, and how we handle it. We process personal information in accordance with the Protection of Personal Information Act, 2013 (POPIA).

1. Information we collect

Account information — your name, email address and password (stored as a one-way hash), or your Google account name, email and profile picture if you sign in with Google.
Platform content — trading ideas, journal entries, notes, course progress, comments, and metadata about screen recordings you create (titles, currency pairs, durations, and links to where the videos are stored).
Subscription and billing information — your chosen plan and payment status. Payments are processed by PayFast; we never see or store your card number.
Technical information — session tokens, IP address, browser type, and error logs used to keep the platform secure and working.
Optional integrations — if you connect Telegram alerts, we store the bot token and chat ID you provide.

2. Google user data

If you choose to connect your Google account, we request only the permissions needed for the features you use:

Sign in with Google (openid, email) — to create and log you into your FX Reels account.
YouTube (youtube.upload, youtube.readonly) — solely to upload the screen recordings you create to your own YouTube channel and to read back the details of those uploads so we can link them to your journal.
Google Drive (drive.file) — solely to save the recordings you create to your own Google Drive. This scope only allows access to files created by FX Reels; we cannot see the rest of your Drive.

Limited Use disclosure: FX Reels' use and transfer of information received from Google APIs adheres to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements. We do not sell Google user data, do not use it for advertising, and do not allow humans to read it except with your explicit consent, for security purposes, or as required by law.

OAuth tokens are stored encrypted and are used only to perform the actions above at your request. You can revoke FX Reels' access to your Google account at any time at myaccount.google.com/permissions, or by disconnecting the integration in your FX Reels settings.

3. How we use your information

To provide the platform: your journal, recordings, courses and charts.
To process subscriptions and issue invoices (via PayFast and our billing system).
To send service messages such as payment confirmations and account notices.
To keep the platform secure, prevent abuse, and fix errors.

We do not sell your personal information, and we do not use your content or Google data for advertising.

4. Sharing

We share personal information only with the service providers needed to run FX Reels: PayFast (payment processing), Google / YouTube (only when you connect them, as described above), our hosting provider, and our internal billing system for invoicing. Each processes data under its own privacy policy. We may disclose information if required by law.

5. Retention and deletion

We keep your account data for as long as your account is active. Invoicing and payment records are retained as required by South African tax law (generally five years). You may request deletion of your account and personal information by contacting us; we will delete or de-identify your data except where we are legally required to keep it. Recordings uploaded to your own YouTube or Google Drive belong to you and remain under your control — deleting your FX Reels account does not delete them.

6. Security

We use HTTPS across the platform, hash all passwords, encrypt stored OAuth tokens, and restrict access to production systems. No system is perfectly secure; if we become aware of a breach affecting your personal information we will notify you and the Information Regulator as required by POPIA.

7. Cookies

We use a session cookie to keep you signed in and remember preferences such as your theme. We do not use third-party advertising or tracking cookies. Embedded TradingView charts and YouTube players may set their own cookies under their respective policies.

8. Your rights (POPIA)

You have the right to access, correct, or request deletion of your personal information, to object to processing, and to lodge a complaint with the Information Regulator of South Africa. To exercise any of these rights, contact us using the details below.

9. Children

FX Reels is not intended for anyone under 18, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children.

10. Changes

We may update this policy from time to time. Material changes will be announced on the platform, and the "Last updated" date above always reflects the current version.
